Choir

We are Ivy, Jodie & Sandy AND we’re in the year six choir! We all enjoy choir because we love singing J. The year six choir will be performing in the musical for most songs. We’ve learnt eight songs and have performed two at assembly; the songs we performed were Walk & Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.

Girls Rugby Team

On the first week of term 3, on Thursday, the entire winter sport’s finalists went to Westall primary school to have a competition against other schools.

The girl’s rugby team won the semi and grand finals.

The girl’s rugby team was the only team who won out of all the winter school sports.

In the semi-finals we competed against wallarano primary school, the scores were 4 to 0.

In the grand finals we competed against Silverton primary school, the scores were

3 to 1.           

COOKING

Hello!!

We have been learning to cook food and drinks. The first thing we cooked was fruit salad. It was very juicy. Second, we made ANZAC Biscuits for ANZAC day. They were very yummy and sweet. After, we made tomato pasta sauce. Next lesson we made scrambled eggs. Then we made pancakes with some toppings on it. It was delicious. The first drinks we made were fruit smoothies. There were bananas, strawberries, pears and cantaloupe in them. The last thing we made was hot chips. They were crunchy and awesome, with good flavour. When you put them in your mouth the flavour exploded.

We can’t wait for more delicious food and tasty drinks. We hope there will be more yummy food we can make! Thank you Ms Dobbs and Jesse for organising cooking for us.

PANCAKES

This year the year 6 girls in Group B made mouth-watering pancakes in My Environment. They were fabulous like us; we used milk, self-raising flour, eggs, butter and even salt. It took a lot of hard recipe following and team work. While we were making the pancakes we were constantly drooling and very tempted to just eat the batter. Once they were finally done we ate them like hungry beasts. SO DELICIOUS!

Ingredients:

300g (2 cups) self-raising flour

Pinch of salt

500ml (2 cups) milk

2 eggs

60g butter, melted

 butter, extra, to grease

Method:

1.    Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl.  Make a well in the centre.

2.    Whisk together the milk and eggs in a large jug. Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, whisking constantly until a smooth batter forms.  Stir in the melted butter.

3.    Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat.  Brush with a little of the extra melted butter to lightly grease.

4.    Pour 80ml (1/3 cup) of the batter into the pan to form a circle pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until bubbles appear on the surface and the pancake is golden underneath.  Turn and cook for a further 1-2 minutes or until golden.

5.    Transfer to a plate and cover with a clean dry tea towel to keep warm.

6.    Repeat steps 3 to 5 with remaining batter.

7.    Top with maple syrup, OR lemon juice and a sprinkle of sugar to taste.

Winter Interschool Sport- Football

In the Winter Interschool Sport Competition, our football team won at least 3 games and lost 2 games. Sadly they didn’t get into the finals or the grand final. In the team there were Chi, Grace, Tasneem, Yvonne, Christine, Andrea, Zac and more. Our team was full of boys and girls.

Our coach was Dobbsy. She was a great coach, she encouraged us to try our best and never give up. A lot of our football mates really enjoyed spending ti

me with our coach, she was one of the best, best, best coach ever!

Our worst game ever was against Silverton Primary School which was full of boys. We lost and the score was Silverton 72 and Keysborough 0. 

We also had some tactics like, “You’re hot, you’re hot!” That means someone is ready to grab or tackle the ball. We liked our first game ever, when we played against St. Elizabeth’s. No one knew what to do so we played randomly, we won 52 to nil. The best part of the game was when Grace held the ball high and this girl shorter then Grace was trying to grab the ball from Grace. J J

A Surprise Baby Shower

In early 2012, the Year Sixes of Keysborough Primary School were told that 6A’s teacher, Mrs K, was pregnant. In Term 2, they were told that the baby was a girl and she was due in August.  The other Year 6 teachers decided to organise a surprise baby shower for Mrs K, so they did. While Mrs K went to the hospital for check-ups of her baby’s health and her own health, they planned the baby shower. It was decided that the baby shower will be on the last Thursday of Term 2, as Mrs K will be on maternity leave during Term 3 &4.

The Year 6 Choir practised the song ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ for the baby shower and everyone made cards for Mrs K and the baby. Names were suggested and decorations were made. The Year Sixes were told to bring something pink to wear on the day of the baby shower (including the boys!)  On the day of the party  the Year Sixes spent half their lunchtime decorating the Year 6 building, laying out food, putting up banners and getting ready for the baby shower.

When Mrs K entered the building the Year Sixes cheered and she was given something pink to wear as well! The Year 6 Choir sang ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ beautifully and people ate the food. A class of Year Ones came to enjoy the party too. Music played in the background and presents were opened. It was a fun, exciting and brilliant day!

The last day of Term 2 was the day Mrs K was leaving. Everyone gave her a cheer. We said we’ll miss her and we were true to our word. Lots of people hugged her and congratulated her, wishing her and her baby girl all the best for times to come. Early in the morning on August, the 6^th 2012 Mrs K’s baby girl was born! The baby didn’t have a name decided yet, Mrs K and her husband were deciding between 2 names.  The students and teachers hope that soon, Mrs K will be able to come and visit Keysborough Primary School with her cute baby girl!
